Sensorgnome software for the Raspberry Pi 2/3 ============================================= 2019-04-19: Today's update: https://public.sensorgnome.org/Raspberry_Pi_Sensorgnome/2019-04-19_sgpi_update.tar.bz2 should correct problems with connecting to the new sensorgnome.org server for data sync and receiver status. WARNING: Only apply this update if your receiver is running the 2018-10-12 version. 2018-10-12 Today's update https://public.sensorgnome.org/Raspberry_Pi_Sensorgnome/2018-10-06_sgpi_update.tar.bz2 and new recommended image: https://public.sensorgnome.org/Raspberry_Pi_Sensorgnome/SGPI-2018-10-12_LIWIXI.ZIP corrects some problems: - SGPI not necessarily connecting via ethernet - stalled funcubedongles not restarting This update can only be applied to sensorgnomes running a 2018 version of the software. To update an *older* version: - format a micro SD card (32GB or less) with the FAT32 ("vfat") filesystem (this is the default on most platforms) - download and unzip SGPI-2018-10-12_LIWIXI.ZIP to that card. Note: The top-level of the card should then contain, among others, a file called `SGPI_LIWIXI_IMAGE_DO_NOT_DELETE`. If, instead, it contains a single folder called `SGPI-2018-10-12_LIWIXI`, then you need to move all the folders and files from the latter to the top-level of the card, and delete the `SGPI-2018-10-12_LIWIXI` folder. In other words, the *contents* of SGPI-2018-10-12_LIWIXI.ZIP should be at the top level of the card, not in a sub-folder. - send an email to admin@sensorgnome.org with the serial number of the SG so that I can reset its credentials Previous updates have been moved to the "old" subdirectory: https://public.sensorgnome.org/Raspberry_Pi_Sensorgnome/old ========================================================================================= 2018-06-26 Today's update: https://public.sensorgnome.org/Raspberry_Pi_Sensorgnome/2018-06-26_sgpi_update.tar.bz2 and new recommended image: https://public.sensorgnome.org/Raspberry_Pi_Sensorgnome/SGPI-2018-06-26_LIWIXI.ZIP include all previous updates, and add the ability to configure the SG-Pi as a WiFi client. Please see the file network.txt for details on how to do this. ====================================================================================== 2018-05-05 The update of 04-30 is now obsolete and should not be installed. A better way to access data files on the SG, without requiring any update is: - install FileZilla (http://filezilla-project.org) on your laptop - in FileZilla, connect like this: Hostname: sftp://sgpi.local Username: pi Password: raspberry your files can then be found in the /media/SD_card/SGdata folder Thanks go to Adam Smith for this discovery. ### OBSOLETE: 2018-04-30 An update today: ### OBSOLETE: ### OBSOLETE: https://public.sensorgnome.org/Raspberry_Pi_Sensorgnome/2018-04-30_SG-Pi_sensorgnome_update.tar.bz2 ### OBSOLETE: ### OBSOLETE: fixes this issue: ### OBSOLETE: - unable to navigate into SD_card directory when accessing the SG-Pi via FTP; this prevents data download. 2018-02-14 An update today: https://public.sensorgnome.org/Raspberry_Pi_Sensorgnome/2018-02-14_SG-Pi_sensorgnome_update.tar.bz2 fixes these issues: - the update from 2018-02-09 broke normal use of the Pi's USB port 4 - the DLink DUB H7 rev. C is now also supported as a secondary USB hub in the Pi 2/3 Installation instructions as below. This update requires a second reboot before it takes effect. 2018-02-09 (OBSOLETE) An update today: https://public.sensorgnome.org/Raspberry_Pi_Sensorgnome/2018-02-09_SG-Pi_sensorgnome_update.tar.bz2 fixes these issues: - Pi-3 boards from some manufacturers are using a new revision of the BCM2709 chip, which broke serial number generation. - an external hub can be plugged into the Pi 2/3's USB port 4, to allow for a total of 10 USB ports. Numbering is desribed at the bottom of the linked page below To install this update: - if you are able to reach the web interface of your SG-Pi, you can upload the update file there, then click on the reboot button - otherwise, you can install the update file directly on the micro SD card: - insert the micro SD card (in an SD-card adapter) into your laptop - rename the update file to `sensorgnome_update.tar.bz2` - copy the update file into the `uboot` folder on the micro SD card - safely remove It might take two reboots with the new SD card before the update takes effect. 2017-04-30 Today's release is the version to use for the Raspberry Pi 2/3, and all previous releases and instructions for that platform are now considered obsolete.
